Coming up, the third stage of the Trip Round Kato. Come and meet Katowice residents over the weekend of 25 – 26 October!

Following the first two stages devoted to the history and architecture of Katowice, we’re handing over the reins to the city’s residents – activists, journalists and artists – those who influence its development and shape. We’ll be introducing people for whom Katowice – their city! – is important. All of them have given us a brief summary of what it’s like to live here, what they like about it and what they’d like to change. From 25 October the exhibition, to be held in public space on the fencing at the new Supersam construction site (The 138-m Gallery, ul. Piotra Skargi 6), will be profiling a wide range of extraordinary characters from Katowice. Special portraits for the occasion have been made by the well-known Silesian photographic duo, Michał Jędrzejowski & Tomek Liboska.

During the Trip’s October stage, Jędrzejowski & Liboska will be leading a workshop on portrait photography. The key moment of the event will be when the participants are let loose into the public arena to create an open-air photographic studio in the city centre. Anyone from Katowice can become a model – so come along on Saturday October 25 at 12:30 pm and strike a pose!

The programme of events accompanying the third stage of the Trip Round Kato will also include an open-air event Kto żyw bieży do wieży organised in collaboration with our Partner the Silesian Museum; a meeting to conclude Krzysztof Maniak’s exhibition with the artist and the curator at the Dwie Lewe Ręce Gallery; a concert and a trip around the cemeteries of Katowice in the footsteps of local celebrities, led by Ryszard Nakonieczny. We hope to beat the August architecture walks’ attendance record so do come numerously!
